First time Poster- Intro

Hello from Southern California.

Been an avid cyclist for several years and ride everything from a recumbent to a fixie. I built my first fixie ala Sheldon Brown, starting with an old Raleigh Technium frame and re-dished road wheels. I really enjoyed building it and riding that bike, lots of miles on it. I bought the frame and fork from a tweaker for seven bucks and put a pretty fancy multi color rattle can paint job on her. I took a break from cycling (don't ask) and put on quite a few pounds... Anyway, I got back into riding again and dusted off the ole Raleigh the other day and noticed she was in dire need of some upgrades. For one thing, I noticed I had a broken spoke and it looked as though it could have been broken quite awhile. The tires are checked and one thing and another.... I took her for a ride anyway, great fun, but decided to pop for some new wheels. I ordered some up, then found a good deal on a frame (Redline) and the shopping spree was on. I anticipate next week being like Christmas at my house and me dancing around the repair stand as I open boxes and hang new parts on that frame. I hate to retire the old Technium, but after building her I started hearing the horror stories about the bonded frames coming un-bonded at the worst possible times. So, I'd rather play it safe and if anybody is interested in the technium frame and fork (it's red, yellow and blue), let me know.

Thanks! Here's a picture of it right after the initial build. I changed the brake levers to aero and ditched the back brake because the cable rattled in the frame. It now has a yellow saddle and blue sidewall tires, keeping with the color coordinated theme. ;)

looks really good! Are you going to scavange some parts off it for the new bike? Or have it as a backup?

At this point, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with her. My original intention was to swap everything over to the new build, but about all I can really use are the bottom bracket and cranks. The frame worries me a little because it's a bonded frame and I'm a pretty big guy. It's not creaking or noodly or anything that would indicate she's coming apart. On the other hand, the last thing I want to have happen is a sudden failure while spinning madly downhill. My other problem is; I'm a little bit bike-poor. My garage is full of bikes to the point it's embarrasing sometimes. Right at the moment, there are 12 complete, ridable bikes and 6 framesets. The new build will make 13 and as we know, that is an unlucky number... So, I either need to hurry up and acquire a 14th, or one has to go...:)

Thanks for all the compliments on my rattle can paint job!
