Pake frame - $209 a good price?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Pake frame - $209 a good price?

I've got a Redline 925 fixie right now but I think want something that's gonna be a bit more aggressive in handling.

I found new Pake frames for $209 online. Worth it?

$220 at a LBS here (frame only). So if you can find it locally you just gotta compare shipping versus sales tax. If you end up getting one, pony up for the lugged Soma fork. The Pake fork is butt ugly. The Soma fork is pretty classy but $40 more.

If you are "SF bound in late '07" I'd check out American Cyclery - they're the big Soma/Pake dealer 'round these parts.

oh, yeah, the fork. i think that's a big part of what's stopped me from ever getting a pake. the stock one isn't just ugly, i also don't like the angle of it.

Just frame. I was thinking of getting a CF fork from Performance to mount up.

yeah, that's the other thing that's stopped me from getting a pake. you can get the same quality for less with fork. i think the khs is way nicer, anyway.

i got a pake with a soma fork and it's just what i wanted, high BB (recently experienced pedal strike on conversion), and trackish geometry for a sortof decent price.

Get the Pake. You can whale on it all you want. You can get the stickers off-no McFixie logos to be covered up with duct tape.
Just get any used roadie fork and rock out.
