excuse my a-hole-ishness today...

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

excuse my a-hole-ishness today...

got some news this morning that's irritated me all day and i'm trying to use my sometimes peevish sense of humor to work out some the aggravation.

yeah, it's just some work stuff that pissed me off. the same stuff you often hear messengers complain about during the summer. you know, not being able to make any money. slow time, new people coming in for part time work, even though it is slow. i know the dude and i like him, so i want to not be pissed off, but...well, it wasn't a pleasant surprise when i saw him locking up this morning outside this one office building. i'm probably over-reacting. it's only money. and the time (a bunch) i spend earning the money (not a bunch).

it's been a few weeks since i had a 60-or-so-tag day. i love those.

yeah, i wouldn't say it's common, but with time stops and round trips and decent routing, it'll happen sometimes. some days they add up quicker than you might think.

yeah, i should settle the hell down...as long as i bring a book or something, i can enjoy a day in the sun, and as long as i can pay rent, i'm okay.

i also remember when i started, and older messengers assumed i was a college student who wanted to "play messenger" over the summer, which is exactly what was running through my mind today. i should be more fair. plus, i think i've found some runs i can pick up.

on a lighter note:

did you meet Columbus' very own "fakenger" supreme? So good...

in the downtime, you should write a book or play called "Standby Summer."
or look for a better line of work.

What exactly is wrong with a student doing a summer job?

Sorry for not jumping on the "I heart you" bandwagon. You're a cool dude, but I don't get the elitism of "I'm a real messenger".

Hey Human... you're only human!

Rant, rave and scream sometimes.

F&*^^k-it!

It feels good to do it sometimes. Worry about feeling like an a-hole later.

Go for one of those "I'll punch the first MOFO who says something wrong!" walks.

Blow off some steam!

Feel good.

it's not elitism, it's way worse than that. this is just about all i can do well, care about, etc, and what i depend on to pay rent, etc, that's all. rather than "i'm so much better than others", it's a "wow, i suck, so i gotta work hard at this".
