Spin tri-spoke vs specialized tri-spoke
Is there much of a diffrence?
I have a specialized 650(Clincher/front) to trade if someone has a Spin 700 or 650. The Spin wheel looks lighter. http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Wheelset/Spin_Wheels.jpg"> http://www.kolarstwo-szosowe.gda.pl/specialized.jpg |
the specialized ones are so much more ******, what are you thinking
|
|
the spin is heavier and has flat spots. it was designed for MTB's. I have ridden Spins on a road bike and the thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump gets to you after a very short time. I urge you to look elsewhere. Just get an Aerospoke :)
|
uh...what
mountain bike tri spoke...wtf who the hell would ever come up with something like that. |
Aesthetically I like Spin better.
If I ran something along those lines myself and I had the money, I'd go HED3, from what I hear they ride the best out of the whole lot and they're not stupid heavy like Aerospokes or stupid flexy like Spinergies. |
hed3 = specialized
|
the specialized is also aero bladed, as in the spokes have a teardrop profile. Spins have an egg shape profile.
|
One is useful for it's intended purpose, the other . . . is not.
If you intend to ride it for the purpose of racing/speed, the HED/Specialized is hands down the wheel to get. If you are making a style bike. . .it won't really matter which you get. |
spin tri=composite carbon, which is basically plastic
hed 3/specialized=carbon fiber which is super strong that's why there's so much of a price difference i know this is an old thread, but yeah. |
before specialized sold their trispoke design to HED, or whatever, they were made out of composites. Heavy as hell.
"Looks lighter"? |
how much are you asking for the front?
|
no, the specialized one is definitely fiber, not composite. that's why they're so much more expensive than buying a plastic spin one.
|
Specialized made a composite and carbon fiber version. Personally, I'm not too excited about rocking full carbon wheels on the street. I used to have a trispoke wheelset (which I got for really good deal) but didn't like being constantly paranoid about them when riding over less than ideal roads. They look cool (but I didn't like all the attention I was getting from them) and make a cool sound, but really are not worthy of anything else beside racing. Spend your $ on something more useful.

yeah they look noice but spoked wheels are better for street use. idk why anyone would want to use the composite ones tho. might as well get a plastic bmx wheel and cover it in duct tape. |

bar tape might be a little hardcore for a scraper bike hed 3.

I've had a few Specialized tri-spokes, as well as a set of Spins. There really is no comparison, the Spins are cheap, somewhat heavy, and pretty much no competition for the Specialized wheels.
The last pair of Specialized wheels I had were carbon fiber. I had an older set that looked like they were composite, but that was not the case, they were carbon fiber as well, just covered with a satin black finish that gave them the appearance of being composite. |
did you no coz tri sspoke there al good coz it like three ha coz nad sed but all over its just aerospok ha lol hipsters h
|
