Gensis Flyer - Fixed issues?
Hi all,
I recently purchased a Genesis Flyer from Evans (Holborn, London) and wanted the shop to set it up fixed before I picked it up. I went to pick up the bike from Evans today, and they say there are chainline issues. They had tried for an hour and a half (apparently!) and failed to get it to line up. I'm not sure which brand of fixed cog they were using. Apparently Genesis are aware of the issue and they have given me a phone number of the parent company Madison, which I have yet to ring. I don't understand what's going on! Are there issues or are Evans just incompentent? Or is it Genesis' fault? Surely they wouldn't market a bike as fixed/free if it couldn't be set up properly on the fixed side without changing other parts... Can anyone recommend a decent bike shop (in London, UK) that can set up my Flyer fixed for me so I can use both sides of the fixed/free hub? Thanks. John |
Based on my experiences with Evans I would be inclined to think that it may well be their fault as opposed to a problem with the bike itself. This is based simply on how spectacularly ill informed and clueless I have found almost every Evans shop I have been into and not on any knowledge of the bike. Simply an excuse to vent my spleen on the subject of Evans! Rant over. I would take it into either Cycle Surgery Holborn (who seem to have a good knowledge of single/fixed) or Condor. Sorry to not have been of any more help.

Brick Lane Bikes will sort it for you, as would Brixton Cycles, and Condor (less so).
You've got quite a few options really, check the bike shops on the London FG SS map: http://www.londonfgss.com/extension....leMapDirectory |
