i'm going to be in braddock/pbg this tues/wed, and i'm looking to check out any or all of the local shops while i'm there. i'm not sure if i'll have my bike or the g/f's car or whatnot, but if anyone wants to show a guy around that would be killer.

The one crucial place to hit is Kraynicks, in Garfield ({link}) - it's like via bicycle in Philly, but four floors and a fourth of the price - lots of NOS and general OS, lots of weirdness. The bad news is the hours - it's closed Wednesday, and is open 11:30 - 6 (I think) on Tuesdays, so if that strikes your fancy, plan accordingly.

Also, if you have your (fixed) bike, there is a 6/6/07 "neighbor of the beast" alleycat - see http://myspace.com/pghbikeracing

Actually I think I'm coming back to PGH, too. For good this time. See y'all soon.

dmg 06-04-07 09:14 PM

Sweet! Also, it's see yinz soon... practice makes perfect.
Buy a house for the price of a year's rent in G-ville! Actually, I just heard of a house for sale for $500 in Garfield... buy a house for the price of a month's rent in a lot of places.

EyeRobot 06-04-07 09:17 PM

Dude, totally. Yinz all know livinz CHEAP in th' ol' PGH.

Ugh I can't wait to down an IC and tear into a Primanti sandwich.

Maybe I can get a job at Gatto's.

ollyisk 06-04-07 09:51 PM

this thread is kind of exciting, i'm visiting soon for a job interview. i think i'm going to relocate to your lovely metropolitan area :)

pinkmike 06-04-07 11:26 PM

I'll be returning to my beloved hometown in the middle of July. Problem is, I never really rode until I lived in Phoenix, so I'll have to learn how to 1.) ride hills, and 2.) ride in the cold when I get there.

dmg 06-05-07 05:52 PM

Hills and humidity and winter build character. We promise no cactus spines in your tires or sunstroke (probably), Pinkmike. Also much less suburban sprawl and, uh, sailors, Ollyisk.
