Sorry if its already been answered but what size crown race does the kilo take. Just ordered a frame and am starting to slowly piece it together.

Hi - great thread thus far, super informative.

I have 2 newbie questions:

With the assembly of the complete bike, do i need a lock ring spanner to tighten the lock ring prior to riding?

Secondly, do I need a pedal wrench initially to put the pedals on? Or is that mainly for taking them off? (similar to how you can put a freewheel on easier than you can take it off?)

Thanks.

The lockring will probably be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to check it.

A 15mm open ended wrench is all you need to install the pedals.

only you can figure that out. measure the stem you have now and go off of that. what size is your bike? my kilo is a 60cm and it came with a 120mm stem, way long.

thanks, sake bomb.

one more question: i'm guessing to run it 48x17, i'd need at least another link or two, and couldn't just use the stock chain, as-is, right?

Hey everybody. I'm thinking about picking up a new bike. I'm really interested in The Hour and the Kilo TT. I was looking for some help with sizing if you all don't mind...? I used Competitivecyclist.com to get an idea of what size I need, but I just wanted to verify that my numbers are correct.

My measurements (in inches):

Inseam: 32.5
Trunk: 26
Forearm: 13
Arm: 26
Thigh: 24
Lower Leg: 22
Sternal Notch: 56
Total Body Height: 69

And, the numbers from CompetitiveCyclist:

Seat tube range c-c: 53.5 - 54.0
Seat tube range c-t: 55.1 - 55.6
Top tube length: 54.5 - 54.9
Stem Length: 11.2 - 11.8
BB-Saddle Position: 73.9 - 75.9
Saddle-Handlebar: 52.9 - 53.5
Saddle Setback: 4.6 - 5.0
Seatpost Type: NON-SETBACK

I'm thinking the 53cm is my best choice and I wanted to verify that it is the correct size for me. The bike will be mostly a commuter, but there is talk of a velodrome coming here. If the 'drome gets built, this bike will become a track toy. Thanks for the help in advance guys!

I just ordered a black 53cm. Hopefully, I shouldn't have gone smaller. Choosing between that awesome green and my all-time favorite black was damn hard.

california hills and drivers make that a very unwise decision, even at $4/g. i'd be on 6 lane 50mph roads for 14 miles one way. ****ing terrible infrastructure problems here. that and i'm so slow, it would take me about 3 hours a day after working close to 9. i would be run over by an SUV driving women like this:

no thanks.
