Yea, that top tube has to be too short for you. I know I always preach on people having different torso/arm lengths but I think you are way out of that range. I am 5'3 with a 30.5" inseam and a 520mm top tube is around my alley if not a bit too short according to the local track coach who helps me out. 5'9 with a 520 top tube? damn.

everyone said to get a size lower in the tt's b/c they run big. from what i understood the 50cm tt is comparable to most 53cm frames. i figured with my short legs i shouldn't be too bad. i was more worried about getting a bike that was too big and getting nutted all the time. i donno we'll see tomorrow.

well, dammit. I just ordered the 50cm, and I'm 5'7 with a 30" inseam. I wonder if the 47 would have been a better fit, but then again, the stem could also be pretty low. I guess I'll see on Wednesday, when I get it in

For the record: I'm 5'10" with 33" inseam and have the 57cm.

It's a little big but still gets the job done. If you aspire to be busting tricks get something a little on the smaller side.

So would most of you agree that in that height range the 50cm would be too small?

well i don't think it is completly different...just saying with the more relaxed geo the 56 fits well so i would think with slightly steeper geo the 53 kilo might fit me well too

well i think you may be wrong about the geo, the steamroller can be ridden on the track due to it's higher bottom bracket, it is not true track geo but it's not way off either...i think i might just compare the specs and see how close or far off they really are

it could be a track machine or a cross bike or commuter that's what i dig about it...no reason to go back and forth here, i know it's not a tight kilo but it's still a very nimble and solid bike, for what i use it for it works great, i don't know it i could deal with overlap on the kilo tt with my 11.5 feet

In hindsight I totally agree. When I ordered my vehicle, bikesdirect wasn't carrying the 55cm. Lucky for me I like my seat on the higher side.

This still doesn't take top tube length into account.

Standover/seat tube length are overrated.

And yes the C-T is about 535 or so.

I entirely agree ('cept I just have the TT non-pro). My roommate's Fuji Tarck is a not nearly as nimble, even for it's smaller size.

My only other bike that's nearly as fun is this:

But that's entirely another story.

Define "track." This is thrown around a lot but do you mean sprint? kilo? There are bikes that fit in between but the Kilo riders at my home track usually ride different geo from a hardcore sprinter, and both are "track" bikes. Or do you just mean steeper angles?

Did you mean Soma Rush? I hope not. By BFSSFG standards, the rush is no less "track" than a Kilo.

Rush head tube angles range from 73.5-75. Kilo 73-75.

Rush seat tube angles: 75.3-75.5. Kilo 74. (Rush has a steeper seat tube).

Rush bottom bracket drop is 58mm. Kilo is 62mm. (Rush has a higher bottom bracket, generally considered more trackish)

Both have 37.5-38mm Fork Except on the bigger Kilos which have 28mm forks.

Yes but just like a seat post, a stem can only be extended or shortened so much before it is just a bandaid fix for a small/large frame.

How often do we stand over our bikes with both feet on the ground anyway? I am always biased towards one side with my foot on a pedal if I am stopped or taking a break.

Compact geometry also makes actual top tube length irrelevant (effective is more important).

Again, I'm going to sound like a total amateur, but for you vegas kids: When my bike comes I won't have the tools to put it together, is there a shop you like to go and can recommend that won't charge me a ridiculous amount of money?
