Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? bike coops can be great and they can be terrible. same with shops.

at best, you spend less money but spend it far more often at a co-op, and get to change your parts out frequently and find what you like by trial and error. the only advantage a bike coop has over most shops is that most bike coops will actively participate in giving you an education, where bike shops want to keep you dumb so they rely on your stupidity to spend your money for their expertise. at best, a bike shop will give you expertise and you'll end up with a bike you love that will be serviced well and you can rely on it and it will fit you so well you'll never stop loving it.

at worst a bike shop is a thieving vat of scoundrels and cheats that steal your money. at worst, bike co-ops are a gang of insolent bums that decide they don't like you and put you on the road with suicide between your legs.

i don't know it all but i'm pretty sure i've seen it all at ends of that spectrum.

Damn, I guess I should be in love with my LBS then.

$30 for a basic service/assembly. Same owner/mechanic for past 35 years.

or since it's not hard at all...buy the tools and do it yourself. that's what i do no sense in paying money to have someone do something very simple

anyone else feel like the stock saddle is the most uncomfortable thing ever? Did 45 minutes today on it and felt like I broke my tailbone when it was all said and done.

The stock saddle was pretty crappy from last year's models. I think they change them, but they still look terrible.

Here's a better picture of the current Kilo.

yeah aesthitically I think it looks better than the bulky ones they had, but it sucks... though not as bad on the second ride

What pedals/saddle do people like on their kilos? Those are probably the two things I'm going to upgrade first

I'm looking at buying a certain bottom bracket for my 2010 kilo tt.

specifications: "68x108mm ISIS BB Platinum Pro ISIS Titanium-nitride coated spindle Double row of cartridge bearings per side Item Specifications BB Shell Width 68 mm Weight 249 g BB Thread Type English Spindle Interface Type ISIS Spindle Length 108 mm"

now would that fit my kilo tt?

Any 68mm English-threaded BB will fit just fine.

What crankset are you using that with?
