thanks for putting up with me, i've read through this whole thread and it convinced me that this was the bike for me. thanks for all the great info you've already provided.
i'm in the same boat as you.

patiently waiting for my bike to get here and i'm completely new to the scene. it's scheduled for delivery on the 15th but i see it's already in the state.. hmm..

another newb question.. i was planning on running fixed, but if i wanted to run ss, what freewheel would i need? how does it install?

also apologizes for the newbie questions.

Thanks guys that makes me happy

edit:
I just used paint stripper(dont know the brand) , I got the stripper on my skin ,and it hurt real good.
brushed the frame until the paint flaked off.
Washed it well with soap and water after that.
I tied it up in my garage through the rear brake eyelet and head tube.
I used a few(3?) coats of primer. Sanded with steel wool in between primer coats.
I used maybe 3 coats of Rustoleum Enamel paint, and after that I used 3 coats of Rusto Clear coat

I would recommend reading this thread

I think its like $75.00 for powder coating. Which one would you recomend? Doing this painting method or just powder coating?

I'd choose powdercoating. More durable than spray. I just didnt have the money.

I'm stuck at work and need to order a BB tool. What is the tool needed for the BB on the Mercier?

Thanks!

I went to UPS to pick up my Kilo and when they brought out the box, it had a big hole in the box where the front wheel was. I took everything out and inspected it. The front wheel needs some truing, but everything else was fine.

It would be nice if bd packed these things better. So when you get yours, check it over before signing.

Great job jgarcia.. really like the look.
My box also arrived with a hole in it, but nothing was damaged so I didn't care.
I must be one of the few that doesn't mind Mercier's logo.. I don't love it on the fork but on the downtube it looks good to me. I like it more on the green Kilos than I do on the black though.

yes I wear 11.5 us shoes and it has about 3-4mm overlap enough to buck you off the bike if you don't know how to ride
