Not the stock stem. Its a 90mm origin8 stem. I just don't like the idea of running spacers if I don't have to, but I also don't want to cut the steerer tube and end up regretting it.

you're on a wh or ed up scrambler that looks like it took a time machine back to 1992 and stole as many anodized parts as possible....you have alot more to regret then cutting your tube to short

and the stem on top of the headset only makes the front end more rigid if the headset isn't preloaded properly. it's not like you can use 12 1mm spacers instead of a 12mm spacer and suddenly have a suspension fork ride.

What are you, high?
Did you not see the giant all caps "SOLD!!!!!!!" written on the description of the velospace link you clicked?
Or the part in the notes where it said "sold on 1/29/09-kilo coming soon"?
I totally got served.
Not.
What a ****ing idiot.

Cc700, why don't you crawl back under the rock you've been under for the last 6 months, come back in another 6 and drop some of your infinite wisdom on us again.

yes, because what's most important is the title... that's totally what i was looking at when i clicked on your link.
and i ninja'd the **** out of you, served or not.
why are you even asking dumb questions in a kilo picture thread anyway? you ride a madison. go be an ******* elsewhere.
i probably will leave again... i don't need to debate how much front end rigidity spacers take away with you. ****ing ridiculous.

Debating me? Wtf?
I own a kilo.
This is the 2nd one I've owned.
I've had my new one for the past month.
Why would I ask a question in a specific bike thread if I didn't own that specific bike?
This place is ****ing ridiculous.

^^^hay guys just cyber already
I was riding pretty fast down this grass hill in the dark with a crappy light (knogs suck). Hit a curb at the bottom and ****ed up my front wheel and fork. Kinda dumb.
But I learned my lesson and got a big ugly Cateye.

Speaking of positive rise stems, I just put one on my kilo this evening, and the ride is definitely a little different -- I think it'll take a few days to get used to. I'll try to post some photos soon. Initially I don't like it as much aesthetically, but I think it'll help some with commuting.

ninja edit is an edit where it doesn't say "edited by" because you edit it right away, before another post. like a ninja.
https://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...m=ninja%20edit
before you posted i had included the "oh he sold it" addendum, which you could have seen had you refreshed.
skeletor-
knogs are not lights. i only wish more people knew this. they are blinkies.
sorry to hear about that. what cateye did you get?

Has anyone here tried the knog bullfrog? I wonder if those are any better. I rock the frogs right now, but it is frustrating that I still can't see where I'm going (I usually only ride roads I'm familiar with at night because of this).
What's a decent cheap stem that's maybe a little shorter than the stock stem? I flipped the stock stem over when I was still using the drops, but flipped it back over for bullhorns because it's just so long.

knogs aren't really meant for better night vision. they're pretty much there for others to see you at night. (cars, pedestrians, cyclists, etc.)

As for the light, I think it's called the Opticube... got it for super cheap off craigslist. It lights up stop signs for a couple of blocks, so it's a big improvement.

yeah i have one of the super huge old opticubes... these:
el300
and they're really not so helpful unless the batteries have less than an hour of use.
the newer ones with high power led's are better, like the el500 and el530. those are good lights.
even then, they're nothing compared to a 10w halogen or better. i'd get a CREE led flashlight like this:
https://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.925
and make a diy mount for it. that's going to give a lot more light than even the nicer cateye 1w lamps.
i'm riding around with the best light available thanks to my amazing family. light and motion... for people who are serious about not dying.

for sure. knogs are worthless as lights. just only to be seen. i was riding in a dark residential area and crashed due to bad visibility and a lot of bad luck. forgot my cateye at a friends house. i bent my rim and my fork. dont know what fork to replace it with. anyone have suggestions? threaded or threadless?

my mom got me those pink nitto anodized risers for xmas.
they were like $80.
i could never get rid of them.
what can i say? my mom loves the tarck.
cc, i'm not a fan of the white hubs either, but the set has purple nipples.
it's such a gross wheel build, i can't change it.
pink rims, purple nipples, black spokes and white hubs.
ugh.
