2 Questions: Bar Colors & TT Pads

1. I love the Nitto RB-019 and plan on buying them (or something like them), but my stem and headset and all my parts are black. Does Nitto make anything in black? If no, does anyone else make anything that looks like an RB-019 in black? If no, is it a punishable offense to rattle-can it? If yes, is powder coating more acceptable?

edit: i'm buying these no matter what, just doin' my research here.

For reference:

2. Top Tube Pads/Protectors: are they for protecting the top tube from the rider, from leaning against things, from your lock, or from all of the above? Personally, I prefer to U-Lock around my down tube, so do they make down tube protectors? Should I be locking around my top tube?

yeah i'm gonna get black bar tape.

and i've seen those bars too, the problem is that the drop isn't as severe, nor does it thrust forward as much at said point.

So you want to limit your hand positions even further?

I believe tt protectors are both for lock protection and also protection from the bike rack. most people lock with the down tube and have the tt protector rest against the bike rake. if you want a down tube protector (sure, why not?) find one that'll fit or make your own (bar tape, weave one with yawn, whatever). it is your bike afterall.

So you're good. You won't scratch the surface of your bars trying to install them.
