anyone made their own tool pouches before?

im looking into making one for my new bag plus it will be a fun project and learning project, i want to put a key chain holder on it so i can hook it up inside my bag and some nice velcro to close it up. i dont know the first thing about getting started. anyone have any tips? i would probably be doing this all by hand if i did.

i cut a pair of pants into shorts and used one of the remaining legs by sewing one and shut and attaching a cord to tie it shut on the other, rolls up nicely and works well

I used to keep my tools in a crown royal pouch. Those can fit a lot of stuff: tire levers, mini park chain popper, allen keys, 15mm wrench, and room to spare. With that stuff all in there, you can fit 2 tubes in there. Unfortunatly, crown royal does not make a pouch big enough to fit my mini pump.

You can use a similar design from the Brooks tool roll.

Crown Royal made bags for their bigger bottles - like the 26oz size. A surplus store near us used to sell a couple of their sizes - the small and the 26oz size.

I made a pouch out of some scavenged canvas(?). It has a cord to tighten the mouth shut and probably looks rather like soyboy's. It travels in whatever bag I'm carrying while riding. It's about 9x6" and houses tools, a minipump and a spare tube. Improvements for Mark II would be a) fabric that matches my bike's color and b) a strap system of some kind to fit it under the saddle.

I use a sock for all my hex wrenches, chain tool, tire levers, patch kit, and spoke wrench.
