Polishing B123AA's

So if I wanted to polish up some B123aa's for that shiney chrome-like finish of B123's, would I be fine just to use Simichrome to polish it, or would I have to use oven cleaner before hand to remove any anodizing there is on the bars (?) and steel wool to sand down the surface a bit?

rubbing/polishing compound and lots of clean rags and lots of elbow grease.

or use a car polisher thingy if you have one. but the curves might be tough with a large polisher.
