Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Veloplugs anyone?

Veloplugs anyone? (Rim tape dilemma)

I was thinking of putting a set in my weinmann DP18's but I don't know if they'll fit. Anybody run this combo? Should I just drop the $17-18 anyway?

Edit: Now we help me find rim tape (ad possibly valve extenders) at a paypal friendly store.

Anybody have a recommendation on rim tape? Need something for 120 PSI and idiot-proof.

Edit: also online bought/paypal payable would be nice.

I was under the influence that they took CC thru paypal, but I figured it out. Opera autoclicked the credit card box when I went to pay. I got it.

You shouldn't need valve extenders. They aren't that deep. Just get long stem tubes. Don't use electrical tape either. It's just gonna make a sticky pita mess. I mean yeah it would do the trick I guess, but they make rimstrip for a reason. But with the deep profile, the heads of the nipples twisting and cutting thru the tape isn't an issue...lemme know how ya do.

Use elec. tape as a last resort and only temporary. That stuff doesn't hold up well in the heat or in high pressure tires.

I got Velox in 10mm and some extenders that I'll sell on ebay if I really don't need them, thanks for the help everybody. The last little thing I have to ask is if a cartridge BB will fit in an English threaded 80's Peugeot shell?

Pretty sure it is. I just had an odd feeling that there would be some catch after I'm almost done with my build... Oh well, I'll probably get a real track frame sometime in the summer if something does catch anyway.

Edit: just saw you didnt need these any more. Good luck.

make sure you put a piece of rim tape over the seam on the rims.
