Boulder bike shops?

Greetings all,

[Cross-post warning!]
Near the end of this month I will be spending two weeks in Boulder, CO for work. I would like to buy a used bike while I am there, ride it, and then ship it back to Chicago when I leave. Are there any bike shops in the area that have a good selection of used bikes? My preference is older steel, and I'm open to mountain or road frames. I'm already watching the local CraigsList.

Thanks.

I would start here:

These guys are doing a good thing and should probably have something that will work for you while you're in Boulder.

Peace.

There are a ton of bike shops here in boulder but not many really have used stuff. There is a sports recycler in north boulder that has some stuff and sometimes there are cool complete bikes.

If you are into riding with a group or racing shoot me a pm when you are in town and i will let you know if there is anything going on.

Sports Recycler is a good recommendation from GObalistik. I think some of the shops still have bulletin boards with used stuff.

Seem like lots of fixie stuff around U-bikes (short for University Bicycles at 9th and Pearl St). On Monday I saw two fixies locked up outside with For Sale signs on them.

Also try Sports Garage and Full-Cycle.

Heard they were doing weekly fixed rides out of Sports Garage, but I think that's a winter thing. Just ask the dudes at the shops though. They'll get you hooked up with rides and might have a line on used stuff too.

Check out the Thursday night downtown cruiser rides. Great time to cruise the streets with many in costume...very Boulder. Think the naked ride is coming up too if that's your cup of tea.

I hate that damn cruiser ride...its so tedious on a fixed gear with the hundreds of people crawling and swerving all over the place. But there is usually a couple hundred people or more...so it must be fun for some people.

Fellow Chicagoan here who just got back from a few days in Boulder. What an awesome town! I'd recommend checking out Full-Cycle even though I don't think they have any used bikes. However, there are probably just as many bike shops there than in Chicago (pretty good for a city that's 1/20th of the size) so you'll probably find something. Enjoy the scenery man.

Amen...I watch the mayhem from an outdoor patio (Rio, Redfish, Corner bar, etc). Riding in it aint my thing either.
