Flat/raiser bar lenght?
How long/short have you bought/cut yours?
Any magic formulas that I'm not aware of? :) The stock raiser one on my MTB were 615mm, now cut at 490mm or so, anything sorter and the brake lever would be in an angle Got some nicer alloy Race face low rise bar and need to settle down on a lenght before cutting it :D Edit: Corrected, should be 490 vs 510mm |
550mm

Haven't measured, but my flat bars are just long enough to fit my hands.
|
preference and determined by the rider...what works for one may not work for another.
no magic formulas. some people like to cut their bars shoulder width..some like even shorter and some longer. Before cutting, ride with the bar and look to see where your hands are comfortable...and cut acordingly. |
Miy risers are a bit more than my pedal clearance and the width is comfy, I just need a lower stem.
|
I cut mine down it 41cm. Cut wide and work your way in until you feel comfortable. If you have other bars and are comfortable with the length, cut as wide as those bars.
|
CUt the bars to just under the width of your shoulders, i've experimented with this on a few bars. This will feel the most comfortable if you ride alot.
|
**** that ****, just skip the bars and grab onto the stem.
|
Shoulder width, dude. Unless you're riding a bunch of gnar, technical single-track. Then you should keep them stock.
|
too narrow and you cant get enough leverage

I can't remember what my bars are @ currently but I think I cut like 2 or 3 inches off each side. One of the tech's @ work couldn't understand why I'd cut brand new bars as much as I did. |
am I the only person that thinks mini drops would be cool?

mini drops make as much sense as cutting down risers or straight bars to barely fit grips....so i guess most people would probably think they're cool.

i used to ride 28cm factory second jamis risers that i got for 8 bucks. switched to 36cm 123aa's which i love.
