Can Formula's be re-spaced to 110mm?

If you look closely, there appears to be unnecessary spacing filler on the hub that can be removed. Has anyone done it?

Yeah you can, you need an axle clamp to do the job effectively though.

So basically something to hold the axles secure while you take out the spacers? Would an LBS have one?

i just looked at mine and i dont think that it is a 5mm spacer

I remember reading a post by someone in the past saying some Formula's have spacers and some don't. I was hoping for some firsthand experience if anyone's successfully done it though...

You can easily remove the 2mm spacers and replace the locknuts with thinner locknuts......that should get you close to 110.

Just so you know, you don't need an apostrophe when you
pluralize a word.

Even if you can re-space it to 110mm...most frames with that spacing require a smaller axle diameter.
If its an NJS frame, this will be the case for sure.

I've got my axles filed down from 10mm to 8mm already because my Bridgestone is 120x8mm... weird dropouts. I think it'd just be a matter of evening out the file job where the spacers are removed...

I don't know if the spacing will work, but I do know that formula axles don't move. You have to whack them with a mallet to get them out, so don't worry about that.

You also don't need random line breaks in the middle of a sentence.

"I've seen at least two different versions of Formulas that differ in the axle hardware. On one version, there's a 4-5 mm spacer on each side that you can ditch and presto, you have 110 mm. On the other, there's nothing to remove that isn't irreplaceable. But you can get replacement generic parts that are thinner from Bicycle Research (any good shop will have a parts box from them) and use them instead".
