Black or Pink?

Should I go with a black or a pink chain? I'm not going to be using that fork BTW, I've got a bp Stealth on the way.:)

Don't be a girly man. Go with the black.

Sizzle-Chest 07-07-07 08:45 PM

nero baby

Ghaurok 07-07-07 08:47 PM

My friend got a KMC "pink" chain. It's not really that pink, most definitely not as pink as your chainring. So unless you know of a different pink chain (or plan to spray it yourself) I would be inclined to go with black.

zephyr16 07-07-07 08:50 PM

they would both be hot, but i think black, cause that pink is pretty shocking and it will stand out better if it contrasts EVERYTHING else on the bike, as opposed to just most of it. But ****, they would both look good. did you paint that ring?

edit: i just noticed your hubs and spokes are silver. fix that will you?

3Lph 07-07-07 09:04 PM

Pink!

Then add pink fizik bar wrap and pink tires.

Don't forget your pink polo shirt with the collar up. :D

j/k. me likey.

The spokes I used for the front don't come in black. I also really don't feel like rebuilding this wheelset again.

the ny bike snob guy's typing fingers are getting itchy...

I'd personally swap the chainring back to black and go with a silver chain to match the spokes and hubs. The pink is just kind of out there swinging on its own.

Well you might want to get that addressed if you expect this thing to work out.

BuddyMike 07-07-07 09:29 PM

As said above, the pink KMC chain won't match that chainring.

deathhare 07-07-07 09:49 PM

black chainring and chain.

Which is why he should add pink bar wrap and tires, It'll balance things out well. And the the spokes and hubs look fine silver. Don't worry about them.

Doesn't matter, It'll still work together fine.

Edit: Oooh, and a black Arione saddle with a pink stripe in the middle would be perfect.

JaredG 07-07-07 10:59 PM

that rim combo bothers me. why machined aerohead in the rear with a nonmachined deep v up front?

on topic though, black chain, pink bar tape, and if you can find one, pink front tire perhaps? oh yeah, pink seat as well. that would be swell.

The rear rim is an Open Pro, not an Aerohead. I used it because I got a killer deal on the rim. I use the Deep V for time trials. I have an older Ambrosio laced to an old Miche hub that I use for general riding around. I run a front brake, my new levers should be here on Thursday and I didn't see the point in installing the caliper on a fork I'm not using.

JaredG 07-07-07 11:40 PM

gotcha.

oldsprinter 07-08-07 01:08 AM

Pink and black!

Suttree 07-08-07 01:18 AM

I don't have any pink on or near my bike but I used to think it
looked ok in some instances--especially a pink keirin bike someone
rides around here--

now I'm thinking of pepto--pink is weird. I don't have any weird
associations with it other than pepto but that **** is nasty.

oktokrewl 07-08-07 10:09 AM

go with the pink.. I have the pink champ grips and pink tires (which are about the same pink as yer chainring) on my lowrider and the pink chain matches quite well..

it will be like the pink is an infection spreading from the chainring...heheh

+1 My KMC pink chain is really more purple.

SlowandRusty 07-08-07 01:52 PM

I'd have to call mine 'Magenta'. I went down to the local Walgreens and got nail polish in a matching color (had to ask the cosmetics lady to help me cause I'm color-blind :p ). Painted My chainring bolts with it. Looks good, IMHO.

It Jamis Sputnik in Ano Black, Silver Profile DH chainring, Pink KMC chain. I like it. :)

brinskan 07-08-07 02:13 PM
