I just picture what I must look like in the following two reaction scenarios:
1. Get pissed, flip off car, scowly look on face, tears.
2. "whatever attitude", expressionless, keep riding.
#2 looks way cooler and what if there's a hot chick driving behind stupid car driver. Also for #2, I seem to get over it faster and I am that much closer to enjoying my day again.

just decide to not get angry right when you feel it building- it actually works and believe me, i've got some fury.
Also, most important thing is that most people don't see you and are way more nervous about hitting you or going around than you think. Communicating with cars seems to work really well for me. Make gestures, no, not the middle finger, but basically if you give them instruction, they will actually follow.
Granted there are *******s of the world but my newest and most effective approach is calmly telling the person they almost killed me and to watch out, that way they don't think all cyclists are *******s and they might actually be nice ot the enxt one.

I think of the note my daughter wrote to me the other day (which I will get laminated):
I no you are mad, but crtl ou self.
I was having a bad mitre box experience...
I also have a no whining button on my messenger bag and I try my best to not be a hypocrite.
But dude, I used to live in ABQ, and the drivers there are awful. Just remember, they ain't normal.

I haven't had too many problems, as I rarely hear people using their horns...next to murder it seems to be a capital offense here. Although, someone did let off an air-horn out their window as they went blasting by me a while back. I didn't react, but the anger sharks were swimming in my head

Yesterday we had a guy behind us at an intersection (in his big SUV) on our commute home. He stayed back even though he had room to pass (he was turning right). I moved over a little and motioned to him that it was Ok to pass. Finally, he came up a little and we realized it was a co-worker... he said "I ride bikes too and I hate when people get all close". I thought that was nice.
