I'm 5'10" with long legs, (33 or 34 inseam pants) short arms and torso. I ride a smaller frame so that the tt isn't too long. My group buy IRO is a 56 and, judging from the tt length compared to my other bikes, it'll be perfect for me.

To the OP: I think the 59 will be too big for you.

then i guess if they dont have the 56, i should go for the 53?

Bicycle doctor usually has complete IROs in stock built up with a variety of parts.
If there's an IRO built up with deep v rims and you wanted a different wheelset, Alex will swap out the wheelset and change the price accordingly, same for bars seat etc.
the prices should be comparable to IRO's site.

no. with proper saddle height your feet wont touch the ground. if you are stopped and leaning to one side, that's a different story.

I am 6'1" and ride a 56cm with more post and stem than some and it is fine, I could go for a 58 too. I'd say you should wait for the 56cm. And go to a bike shop and get a sense of sizing before you drop a bunch of money!

the 53cm will be hilariously too small, and thus, the correct size if paired with a bandanna and colorful grips. the dimensions of a "59" are actually 55.5 x 57. this would be much closer, though perhaps a bit large if you have stubby arms.

if im looking for something close to an all stock IRO setup (if not the complete IRO setup) would bicycle doctor have it?

or would it be more beneficial for me to buy a variety of good decent part?

Sizing is a weird thing. I got my IRO built up by Trackstar and did my first ride yesterday. I swapped everything off my conversion of what I thought was the same TT length 54. I got the 53 IRO, and I"m 5' 9.5". They used my old setup as reference points. So I went from a 100mm quill stem to 80 treadless, and to my shock it fits. Does that mean the frame runs a touch big?

is trackstar stocking any iros?

trackstar had a few IRO frames in stock lst time i was there.

I got in on the group buy and have been riding it around for a few days now. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam as well. The previous ride was a 59cm and the IRO is a 56. It's a bit weird going from a larger frame to smaller frame, and I'm not really into keeping the seatpost jacked up so high. Maybe after a few more weeks, the 56 will be more comfortable, but I'd have probably gone for a 59 if i could do it over again.

hey jay i gave alex a call, he's a very very nice guy and even suggested i come to try out a 53 later today.

maybe ill just buy my set from him even though i want iro parts...

well we'll see what happens. i think this sizing thing is a sham, everyone likes it differently so even when someone says a size its still not a concrete answer. i've read many post where 6'0 ride 56, which in that case puts me at 53. ill go try it out later though, let youguys know. thanks

i was exagerrating, they just wont have it for a long time. Tony himself said they wont have it for another few months. if you want a bike now, i'd say try the 53 out at bicycle doctors since IRO sizing is often debatable and subjective.

im gonna go next week and try both. since im on the taller side of this predicament i might end up going with the 59 and a shorter stem and the seat set back. where in ny do you live?

maybe go try a 56 and a 59 road bike at a shop, and see if the 59 is out of the ballpark.

really the most important thing here is to find out if the reach is way off.

+1 to testing. If you can't find a 56, find a shop that has a 59 IRO in stock & try it on for size.

i tried the 53, it was a little tight the top tube seemed a bit short and the seat post was up about 5 inches so it was a little weird for me. im still not sure since it was an 80 stem, if i have the 110 i think it would be better. but the 59 would def be too big.

but just in the event that i dont get the 53, should i go for a bianchi? or does someone recommend me doing somethign else as in buying and building it with seperate parts?

im not particularly familiar with queens all that much, but im in bed stuy regularly. there has got to be a shop with a 56 somewhere!

mother****er. well im not going to give up on an IRO until i try the 59. what else are you looking at? the specialized langster and fuji track were reccomended to me, but i hear the fuji has ****ty parts that you'll just end up replacing anyway..dont know much about the specialized.

honestly, i might just go with teh 53 and 110 stem. it didnt feel too small that i couldnt ride. it was short but the guy used a 80stem and flat bars.

my boy just told me he's riding a 53 and he's the same height as me. i'll give it a try when i go. what's the deal with upgrading parts at the shop? i'd probably just need to change the stem and i'd want to put some risers on it.

no complaints at all. he's around 5'11-6'0 and was almost suprised that i was looking at a bike bigger than that. he didnt know how long his stem was though, so that i'll have to see for myself.
