IRO sizing- hate to do it-need input
I just need some quick inputs and i've read as many of the mark v threads that i've found but im still unsure.
I ordered a mark v from iro and i told them how tall i was and im sure thats a terrible way to measure for a bike but its all i got so far. I'm 5'10 and wear 32 inseam jeans although i think 30 would be exact. I first ordered a 53 and then thought about a 56 but tony recommended a 59. i also think the 56 is no longer in stock. If i had to choose, should i go with the 53 or 59? or should i hold off. |

59 IRO size? how does it feel? hows your standover? and the top tube length reach?
|
get the 59
|
I am 5'10 and I just got a 56cm. My real inseam (not jeans) is like 32.5cm. The fit is tight, but good. Running a 110mm stem things feel good. I would go for the 59cm if I were you.
|
you guys think i should wait instead? if that were an option?
|
hey seanbonham, if you could do it again would you have gone with the 59?
|
I'm 5'10" and wear 32" inseam pants, and my 56 angus fits me really well.
|
59 will be too big, I can almost guarantee that.
I'm 5'10" with a 30" inseam (pants) and have a 53 angus. the top tube is kinda low (or you might say long when compared to the standover) on IROs. I think my arms are sorta stubby. |

+1, except insert Mark V for Angus |
the 59 has a 57cm tt, while the 56 has a 55.5cm tt.
i would say the 56 is a better fit if you want a bike that you can throw around abit more. the 53 would definately be too small and the 59 might work, but you'd be better to hold out. |
slopvechicle, how do you feel on the bike? can you tell me alittle about your experience with the 53?

In general, I seem to like small bikes compared to the other ~5'10" folks I know. I think it's my stubby t-rex arms. I chose 53 'cause I was wary of buying a too big frame, which is ultimately harder to correct for. You'll probably be okay with the 56. |
i just spoke to riot boy and he convinced me that the 59 will fit me just fine.
im trusting it.... |
i'm the same size and a 57 toptube to me is too long. 55.5 is about perfect with a 110-120 stem. I think you're gonna wish you got the 56.
|
damn how i easily just got disauded.
|
5'10" here. 30" pants inseam, my real inseam is about 32"
My 56cm Rob Roy fits me wonderfully. I'm confident than a 59 would be too large. |
adding myself to the pile of 5'10", 32" inseam people here... used to have a 53 mark V - too small.
tested a friends 59, too big... waiting for my 56 group buy frame to arrive and i think it's going to be perfect. |
I am just shy of 5'11 with a 32 inseam and my buddies 59 felt a little big for me. I would lean torwards the 56 unless you have a strange build.
|
i too am looking towards the 56cm, the frame i have right now is a 61cm and its way too big. im also pretty new to bike sizing in general, but if im 6'1 with a 32.5" inseam what size stem should i go for?

why dont you just buy the 59?
|
well from what a guy at my lbs was telling me, that for a road frame i'd need a 57 or 58cm and for a track frame i'd need a 56 or 57cm. i'd rather the bike be a little too small than a little too big, does that make any sense? i also dont know how much of my foot is supposed to be touching the ground while im sitting on the seat, but i feel like i should be able to have some sort of footing when im stopped right?

yeah, just buy the 59.
i read your post as looking forward to the 56... like you bought a group buy 56 and were waiting to get it. but if you didn't buy it yet, definitely go for the 59! i have a friend that is 6'1" and the 59 fits him perfectly. |
