I hear that 1 1/8 threaded exists. It might be really hard to find headsets and stems though. And since you axed:

Benefits of threadless:

Stiffer
Stronger
Lighter
Cheaper
More selection of stem angles and lengths
Simpler bar swaps if you can find a poptop stem
Doesn't channel water and sweat directly into your steerer tube like threaded does; keeps water and sweat out instead
Quicker, simpler headset adjustment (needs just an allen key)

Benefits of threaded:

Easy to jack the stem up and down
Looks retro

Did I miss anything?

haha. thanks for the list. I had never heard the "directing sweat and water" complaint, but I guess that makes sense.

This bike will stay threadless, although I can't say the same for the pista. only time will tell.

It's true. That's why a quill stem is always such a rusty nasty mess when you pull it out of the steerer tube, even if you use grease.

I really want to order one of these for a SS project. Threadless>threaded just for stem selection alone.

That's really strange, my BJ that I got a couple of weeks ago had a threaded fork. Guess they just pick randomly before they ship it. Does it have anything to do with my request for a installment of a record headset? Dunno!

i'm so done with this. just want to riiiiide my biiiiike!!

given the choice, I probably would have selected threaded, honestly. that said, i got over my temper tantrum, and I think I'll like the change. It doesn't do you any good to get complacent on a rig and turn down new stuff just because you haven't tried it.

Yeah it definitely does suck that you were surprised like that. That said there's worse **** to have to live with than a threadless headset.

I placed an order for my Vigorelli on July 26th. On July 27th, to my dismay, i saw this:

At this time of year with staff holidays with builders coiming and going this can slow things down.I would expect to get this frame out to you in about 5-6 weeks. Sorry for this delay.

Donald

This afternoon, however, much to my un-dismay (too stoked to think of the appropriate word), i saw this:

I really wasn't expecting to see it this soon. Pretty stoked...

But yeah, whatever problems they were having getting their frames to customers have been resolved, apparently.

Hi there!
I'm as well waiting for a Bob Jackson Vigorelli at the moment. Money was taken from my card august 20th. I'm daily checking my order status in my account on their website and it still says "pending". Did that ever change for any of you guys who got their frames?

Hey 10115, got my frame in july and it still says pending so don't worry about that. They don't seem to update that thingy.

Thanks for the info, Ninju! I ordered mine with an installed Campagnolo Record headset as well but specified threaded as Campagnolo offers a 1" threadless version.

I chose Flamboyant Royal Blue, silver lug lining and black decals. All the components will be silver with black tyres, grips, saddle and toe straps. Parts include the usual suspects like Phil Wood high flange track hubs laced to Ambosio FCS28 rims, Nitto Pearl stem with Nitto RB-021 handlebar, Sugino 75 cranks and BB and so on. I'll post pics on velospace as soon as the bike is ready to ride!

Update: I contacted Donald at Bob Jackson Cycles via e-mail and asked what's up with my order and got an instant and friendly reply, that they are currently in trouble keeping up with the demand for Vigorellis and that it would take about three more weeks for my frame to be finished. He also offered me a refund of my money in case that was too long of a waiting time.

I'm counting the days....

+1 They're probably glad this is over. My experience with them was entirely opposite. They did a bunch of stuff for me for free including building a custom frame for off the peg price. I think you get what you give.

Yes, of course i asked them. It's a pretty essential question when buying a frame. I guess it's best if you get in contact with Donald yourself. You can reach him at Factory@bobjacksoncycles.demon.co.uk.
I'm getting a 21.5" frame.

Yes, they seem pretty cool. I ordered a headset as well and i'm getting the installation of said headset for free and as my Off The Peg frame isn't on the peg yet i asked them to leave off the bottle fittings which also seems to be no problem and no extra charge. Of course it saves them work and a bit of materials but still it isn't self-evident that this happens for free.

ahh, i was just curious what the head and seat tube angles were them now. i've had my custom pista from them for almost a year now...i went custom because the head angle was only 73*...
