Oh come on, lighten up Frances. I start one mildly amusing yet pointless thread and everyone gets their undies in a bundle. There have been far worse on here

I like amusing and pointless threads. The thing is, asking this question is not amusing, is it? It's on a par with asking "Why are bicycles called bikes?". I'll grant you that I could have ignored it, and I will from here on in, but really, this absolutely fulfills all the criteria for trolling.

americans looked at the phrase above and said, "oh...the 'gear is fixed' so, fixed gear!"

brits came along later and decided they had to be different about it and said 'the only other word left in that phrase is "wheel" so, fixed wheel!'

dude-bros came along later, sporting flips flops and a dave matthews shirt. when their dad stopped letting them use the dealership cars (because of the dings and scratches), they borrowed their nerdy roommate's bike to go to the bar, fell a few times, finally learned to ride, and coined the term "fixie" in a drunken, raging, stupid, stupor.

for that, they shall be forever despised. as if they weren't already.

stupid dave matthews.
