Overlap on '07 Pista

I'm thinking of picking up a 2007 Pista. Can anyone who has one tell me if there is any toeclip overlap considering the tight geometry? I know Italian bikes and American clips don't always mix too well.

Thanks

Yes there is.

Depends on the frame size and the shoe size. It's not a deal breaker. Is this for the track or the road?

Toe overlap isn't a huge issue in practice. Many bikes have a bit. It is only an issue at slower speeds and you quickly learn the timing. I would not necessarily make it a make or brake point in buying a bike.

Yeah, seriously. My main road bike even has some toeverlap, and you get used to it in ohh....12 minutes.

mine does, but im going to get smaller toe clips, might help a little. got used to it though

It only happens to me when I'm going slow enough to turn the wheel without leaning into the turn, like if I'm messing around doing no handed no footed upside down rainbow trackstands or something super amazingly cool like that.

If you have size 14 shoes and ride a 48cm frame, watch out. Short of that, though, not a big deal. I have pretty major toeverlap on my bike and it only matters when I'm dicking around on my bike in the street at 3:00 AM and at 0.005 mph. IOW, in real life, it doesn't matter much.

Does anyone know about toe overlap on a 53cm or 55cm 2009 model?

elTwitcho 03-11-09 11:08 AM

why does everyone worry about this so much?

Just angle your toes down if you can't get the timing right to not smack your wheel with your foot.

If you're that terrified of overlap, get a mountain bike.

read the thread. not an issue.
