Cannondale Capo + Car = Capo Capped... PICS
Well, here is my first off the shelf fixie after meeting a Toyota Camry this afternoon. The driver, a 78 year old man, who made a left in front of me, failed to see a group of three cyclists riding straight through the intersection with the right of way.
Luckily, I have no real injuries (some bruises) but the "slice" fork has been sliced. The front wheel is dead. The left crank is bent; the bottom bracket is louder than ever.
The streets of Pittsburgh won this evening...

Shadyside: Riding down Aiken with car turning left on to Ellsworth.
I do not recall hitting the car, but looking at the damage to his car I first hit the front fender and headlight; my bum, knee, and the rear of the bike then slammed in to the two doors on the passenger side. Seeing as he kept driving through the intersection, my left ATAC attacked the entire side from the backdoor to the rear panel.
I have no idea where my upper body or head landed, but the only bodily damage that I have is a jammed thumb, a skinned elbow from the car driving past as a basically lay against it, and a sore knee from denting the door.
I think that I left my helmet at the scene; so if anyone finds a $29.99 Bell helmet, you may keep it.

One more reason to promote genocide on folks older than 70. No longer useful to the rest of us

What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? Had
you come to me in friendship, then this scum that ruined your daughter would be suffering
this very day. And that by chance if an honest man such as yourself should make enemies,
then they would become my enemies. And then they would fear you.

Yes for a police report and yes for insurance. He said to just get a price for a new bike, and he will write a check. Time will tell...

Screw the new bike, let's talk about pain and suffering and hotel billzzzz, which will easily surpass the price of an off-the-peg fixie.

Oof. Shadyside is ground zero for idiot drivers... although usually it's soccer moms in SUVs. At least it was an old dude who was probably going 10 miles below the speed limit!

Man, that's weird, considering I ride through that very intersection every day to school and have come close to getting hit by morons doing the exact same thing as the guy who hit you. Just a couple weeks ago I was having to pound on some lady's window because she almost made me dead right there between Aiken and Amberson.
Glad to hear you're ok, though, and I hope that guy does just cut you a check for the amount of a new bike. Also, I'll be through there tomorrow...YOUR HELMET IS MINE!

Yikes. Right near where I live. Pittsburgh has compelled me to start wearing a helmet. I once had a guy in a pickup truck clip me, and then curse "You're the fkking reason I'm late for work in the morning!"

Glad you're okay. Hope the compensation deal works out well (in your favor). VERY glad you were wearing a helmet.

When your bike is up and running again, drop me a line. I'd like to get a few PGH people together for some rides.
