Photo Request

Does anyone have a photo of someone actually riding a bicycle like this one:http://fixedgeargallery.com/2007/july/2/KyleNg_3.htm

Thanks.

Jeebus! That chainring is almost as large as the front wheel.

Sorry I'm no help at all with your question.

roadfix 07-24-07 03:58 PM

Is that L.A.?

Aye, close.

But that bike has drops. The rider's hands would be below the top of the rim...

Mind blowing to me.

queerpunk 07-24-07 04:15 PM

yeah, well, the rider's not fooling anybody with that drop stem and drop bars.

Oh, well I don't think those bikes were ever intended to have drops on them, but if that's what you're looking for, then:

I think it is comical that the top-tube protector is on the *down tube*. Is that some kind of new fangled torture device or just a quick way to sterilize any males crazy enough to ride it?

Ceya 07-24-07 05:29 PM

No , the bars hit there. I had my Sannino set up like that for the photo op and it hit the down tube.

I know,... I found it funny that anyone would intentionally set up a bike with the bars so far down that you would *need* to put the protector there.

Igneous Faction 07-24-07 05:59 PM

Pursuit bicycles use bars that are designed for them, as in the super-bullhorns pictured above.

That bike is impractical and stupid.

and, i'm willing to guess, rarely ridden like that. note that ceya mentioned a photo op... i'm willing to bet that a good chunk of the FGG pictures that people like to rip on are not photos of the bike as it usually gets ridden. be it untaped bars, odd saddle or bar angles (which, to me, scream, "i was just built up! my new owner was so excited to look at me that s/he got out the camera, really quickly!"), or specialty setups like this ridiculous bike and its ridiculous drop bars.... it's not like people are doing that to ride them forever like that.

I was young and stupid once.

I now ride a 61 cm bike with slight rise to the stem. That's a 57 cm bike with a Nitto deep drop stem and the Nitto deep drop bars. It's not a 'pursuit bike' but between the huge seatpost and the deep drops, it was about the same effect.

Saw a guy in Portland with a Landshark pursuit frame that was as insane as the 3Rensho. Gorgeous bike, though.

here she is! i said Photo op because at the time she was never fully built up and i did not have a 650cc front wheel.

It was at Track Star at the time so i took my seat/seatpost , handlebar/stem of my Level and got the wheels from rear from my Level . The wheels pictured is from T*, which the picture was taken next to shop.

I wished i had a chance to ride the Sannino and ride it like the pic too, it could have been interesting.

no my seat post is not correct, i just stuck it in. it would have been alot lower.

CEYA!
