Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? my chain fell off!

I went a path I shouldn't have and hit some serious bumps then my chain fell off. I got it back on but its not as tight as it was. Will just moving the back tired back fix the problem? Thanx for all the help I'm still a noob

Sounds like the nuts weren't tight enough on your back wheel, and the chain tension was a bit loose to start with. Losing your chain on a fixie is a serious problem.

wow . . . took me about five reads to understand what you were saying here. i recommend find a bicycle book for dummies or check out this web page: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/ you should know how to put a chain on and tension it long before touching a fixed gear bike

There was no mention of brakelessness... chains fall off of geared bikes all the time.

maybe people should stop making fun of n00bs, and start educating them instead.

OP: loosen the rear wheel, put the chain back on, and then pull the rear wheel back, tensioning the chain, before re-tightening it.

www.sheldonbrown.com indeed.
