Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

How much is my SS worth?

hey all,

Want to get a new bike, something that fits me a little better. But before I do, the wife says mine has to go as we don't have room for three bikes. So I need to sell but have no idea what's a reasonable price or if it's better to sell off the parts.

info:

-Nishiki hybrid Moutain bike, converted to singlespeed.
-late 80's early 90's model
-decent to good condition
-4130 Cro-mo frame
-easton monkey bar lite - 1 year old
-avid levers front & Back - 1 year old
-Shimano V-brakes - 1 year old
-Mavic crossride wheels - 6 months old
-tires -club roost cross terra 26x2.0 (feels like 1.5) - 6 months old
-crank - bulletproof 110BCM
-sprocket 48 tooth - 1 month old
-cog 16 tooth
-pedals - crank brothers 50/50 flat - 1 year old
-fit bike seat

any help would be great, thanks in advance.

you'd be lucky to get $250 for it.
you'll most likely get between $150-$200.

You couldnt even get 500 for it if you pieced it out. 250 sounds fair, due to its great parts. but it is a Ni****ty.

that seems high. you can buy a new singlespeed for that price. i have sold lots of bikes similar to yours that fetch between 150 and 300. the biggest factor is the demand in your area and the length of time you're willing to wait. if you hold out you could probly get 300 but if you want it gone now 150-200.

thanks everyone, I was hoping for $300 - $350. I live in Philly, SS-ing is pretty popular, although most people ride converted road ss's or flat out track bikes. Guess I'll list it as $300 OBO.

As much as someone is willing to pay for it...Frankenbikes can't be judged by the sum of their parts. $300 sounds like a good price to start at.

The threaded fork setup is the killer. Otherwise it would be a solid $300 bike. Probably $150-$200, if not in janky condition.
