eccentric bottom bracket, vertical dropouts and disc tabs
I'm looking for a frame that has an eccentric bottom bracket shell, vertical dropouts and disc tabs. Preferably for use with 29ers or 700mm's. It's for a custom build I'm dreaming up. Anyone know of such a frame?
So far I've found the following: - Salsa - El Mariachi - Brodie - Ocho Others would be greatly appreciated. mikE |
There's a local* brand called "Steelwool" based out of Talltree Cycles. It's just generic tubing but if the price is right for you, who's counting. They look kinda nice in person even though the decals are on top of the clearcoat.
*actually made in Taiwan |
Gary Fisher Mullet
There's also the Ferrous 29er if you have like $2000 or something |

A couple year old Gunnar Ruffian will have that. The new ones come with the paragon sliders.

Quite a few manufacturers do this. Niner ais another one that come to mind that haven't already been mentioned.
Personally the eccentric isn't for me. There's plenty of bikes with horizontal drops or sliders that have disc brakes and don't require you to move the caliper to remove the wheel if that's what you are worried about. |
The Kona Unit 2-9 and On-One inbred 29er both have sliding dropouts with disc mounts and vertical dropouts. I've heard great things about both.

$249

Just thought I'd chime in with a second (slightly biased) vote for the Steelwool Tweed.
http://www.steelwoolbicycles.ca/frames/tweed_big.jpg It's actually Tange Prestige tubing this year, not 4130 like last year. Full braze-ons for all sorts of fun. Big tire clearance (700x44 shouldn't be any problem at all). Redbike in Edmonton is stocking them, no one in Calgary yet as far as I know. I should let you all know, I do work as a Rep for Steelwool, so I'm a touch biased. But at least you can ask me any questions if you have them... |
+1 for Steelwool
Mighty Riders in Vancouver is carrying them. That's not that far from Calgary. |
|
+2 on steelwool.
literally my dream frame. if i had room in my stable for just one more i'd totally do it. |

He also designed the rear drops so the tire just slides forward and out. He had them custom made. I wonder if you can fit larger wheels with smaller tires.... I'll ask him. |
