even though he was forced to change it I'm sad I'll never see that avatar again after knowing it for years from reading the sa forums way back when.

Yeah, he definitely used to post there back in the day. You two did too?

I know one of you still had his old avatar, please post it back up. I just came back from his service and I feel like crap and it still hasn't sunk in.

You'll be missed, Shiz.

Sadly, he didn't die. He was killed.

I was at Charlie's service today too. I spoke briefly with his brother Thoby afterwards. The outpouring of support from this community has meant a lot to the family. Kudos to you all.

Stream CBC 91.1 on 08/15 around 12:30pm. Some of Charlie's friends will be talking about him and the memorial ride on Friday.

the *CBC.CA/TORONTO* radio station is 99.1...not 91.1 (which is CJRT).

I just got off the phone with Covenant house and it doesn't appear that they could collate donations to one "Bikeforums" group so we'd need to do it externally then submit it as a group. With a group, donors can be listed in the notice to the family or not, if you'd prefer to remain anonymous. If you want a tax receipt it may be easier to donate independently although I could probably talk them into tax receipts for individuals if you want. In Canada, tax receipts often aren't made for amounts less than $20.

I'd be in for a donation - don't need a receipt.

This changes the whole world.
Having been hit and broken by a truck, I'm full of prayers for Charlie and all of us.
I hope heaven has a good sense of humor.
Ride in Peace, Charlie Shiznaz...everyone

GeraldChan 08-16-07 04:13 PM

My condolenses to his family and friends.

His post reflected a keen intellect and ascerbic wit; the cycling community is poorer for his passing.:(

Blue Jays 08-16-07 05:56 PM

Unfortunate.

shapelike 08-17-07 08:11 AM

Just a reminder, memorial ride today at 6pm (@ Jetfuel on Parliament). Show up to pay your respects, share some stories and celebrate Charlie's life.

Fixxxie 08-17-07 09:41 AM

I don't know what to say
even though you never meet somebody in person (only on message board) you feel like a friend anyway and as if hearing about somebody getting killed on a bike isn't bad enough already when it's a friend it's 1,000 times sadder
condolences to his family.

ch0mb0 08-17-07 10:10 AM

can't make the memorial ride from here, but he will be kept in mind as I roll out and pour one out this evening..

That's a good question. Perhaps we could have some sort of "in memorium" tribute to those BF members who were taken from us prematurely by motor vehicles.
