It's sad how right you are. And you know what? The fact that making the laws harsher might help almost makes it even sadder to me. As if losing your license/doing time/etc are really enough punishment for killing another human being. And for what, so you or one of your buddies wouldn't have to be a designated driver one night? Wow.. so harsh.

Whenever I think "what the hell is wrong with people" it comes down to one thing: a lack of respect. It might sound cheesy, but it's true. Why the hell can't people just maintain their own zero tolerance for such things? Do I drink? Sure. Do I drive? Yep, I own a car. Do a mix them? **** no. If I'm driving I won't have a single beer, glass of wine, nothing. Because you know what? At the end of the day, regardless of whether I "feel drunk" or not, I actually don't fully know how that alcohol is affecting me.

It's bad enough having to deal with sober people driving, so obviously adding even a modest amount of alcohol into the mix is only going to send things quickly spiraling downwards.

I loved reading his posts. There will never be another post by Shiz. That's such a horrible thing to realize, especially since it was so unnecessary.

What maddens me to no end is the drunk who'se driving with no license. I hope we get more information from Manitoba as to what went on there. I want to be able to call someone there in regards to this guy's trial.

You just reminded me that I was thinking that exactly when I was out for a ride in the country on Sunday morning. So many bottles/cans on the side of the road.

Shiznaz was by far one of the funniest people on here. This is really terrible to hear. He will definitely be missed in many ways.

Kind thoughts to his family and friends.

He was one of my favorite people on here as well. My signature was something he posted for a really long time, and now I can't remember what it was. If anybody happens to remember, tell me, and I'll put it back up on a more permanent basis.

His friends and fam are in my, and all of our thoughts, I'm sure.

This is terrible to hear. I believe it was last year BF.net lost another valued member in the Mechanics forum: sydney. It's a terrible thing to happen to anyone, and it really hits close to home for me because just yesterday a cyclist was killed here in Santa Cruz on a busy intersection (Bay and Mission).

Ride in peace, Shiznaz.

Man, this is the absolute worst thing. I got choked up looking at the pictures of him on his blog. Never knew the guy IRL, but he was definitely one of my favorite posters, and one of the smartest and most even-tempered guys on here.

Does anyone have his old avatar? I loved that thing. Let's post it in memoriam.

+1M - He had the coolest avatar. It's strange that even though we don't know each other personally, the sense of familiarity makes the news genuinely sad.

Though I only post or even lurk infrequently here, I enjoyed Shiznaz' posts. I hope these will somehow be forwarded to or seen by his family.

EDIT: I assumed he was young which only compounds the tragedy. But that pic of him reminds me of one of my grandsons too which makes it all the more...

You know, this is the first time I've posted in SSFG--I could not believe this when I saw the title of the thread.

Such a shame. A useless shame. No more Shiz...
