Was this stem a good find for five dollars?
115mm Threaded, 1"
It says "Record" on one side of the stem, "3ttt" on the other. "mm115" on one side of the quill, "Italy" on the other. The clamp bolt and the stem bolt seems to take a 7mm allen head. I should also post this in the Classic and Vintage forum, but I'm more likely to get a response here. |

what do you wanna hear?

It's not as shiny and pretty as that one. A little scratched up.

I have the same stem on my fixie. Looks nice, I'd say you did OK.

Those stems are pretty nice but the wedge mechanism is weird, it usually gets stuck in the steerer. And I have also seen them split from tightening them down to hard.

For 5 bucks its totally good. $5 would be a fair or slightly high price for a crummy SR stem. Recently I got a nos-ish 3ttt stem for $20 and that was a nice deal. That 115 is probably how long the extension is in mm.

Actually, I don't think it's going to work for the bike for which it was intended. It slopes downward and won't go up as high as the current stem. What I really need to do is spring for a Nitto Technomic.
It might work on my other fixed gear which has a very small frame. It would be super low, but at least the reach would be right. |
you overpaid
