To drill or not to drill?
I just bought a bomber pro frame and I ride with brakes. I've only ever rode fixed gear with a front brake, and I'm used to it. But to put a front brake on the bomber I would have to drill the fork. I've seen the back brakes that require no drilling, but I'm a little unsure about them. Any experiance/ suggestions (besides ditching brakes) would be appriciated.

could always get a new fork for cheap

I would avoid drilling. You might want to try and get a new drilled fork. The fork may not be able to structurally handle a brake.
|
i'd rather just drill it. I really like it, aesthetics-wise

ok but un-aestheticly it may not be able to handle a brake and the fork could fail.

i remember a debate (someone got a san rensho frame and was asking if he should get it drilled) on here about how forks that werent drilled for a brake originally bend during the braking process due to it not being reinforced. and others said they didnt notice the difference at all. so you know... whatever

i dont want to risk failure and death, so i'll say forget drilling- any experiance with only a rear brake on a fixed?

You can also pick up a new chrome lugged fork from a variety of sources for fairly cheap.
Here's one, you can probably find more. http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...s.php?id=16879 |
