This has been talked about to death in the road forum. Since this is unrelated to SS/fixies why bother us here with it?

sp00ki 08-16-07 10:53 AM

sorry, i'll run future posts by you in the future.

(ps, this forum and that one aren't related. not just that, but walmart getting into the higher end cycle game is probably interesting for everyone...)

1fluffhead 08-16-07 10:54 AM

I wonder what size frames they are sending out when you order. All sizes are listed as:
  • Small 5'2" - 5'5"
  • Medium 5'6" - 5'9"
  • Large 5'10" - 6'2"

lvleph 08-16-07 10:54 AM

Yep old news

And if you are taking that stance, then maybe you should not have posted a geared bike in a ss/fg sub forum.

Again, it's been discussed to death over there in the "road forum". Go over there and read to your heart's content about "walmart getting into higher end cycles".

This forum and that one aren't related? How so? It's all BF.net...and BF.net is structured with sub forums specific to a subject. Since your little walmart cycle is a road bike isn't in logical that it goes in the road bike sub-forum? Even if you can't use logic...it's simple common sense.

Kol.klink 08-16-07 10:58 AM

its not news to me and all i have to say Holy **** the Mercury in hell just dropped at bit

sp00ki 08-16-07 11:00 AM

there's lots of non ss/fg stuff discussed here, has been for years. most of the readers at this forum don't click that forum whatsoever (i only did when i had a question about my tt bike, and even then i'm not sure where it went).*
srsly, if you don't want to read it, don't keep bumping the thread. or report it.
i can say with pretty high certainty, that my short post+link is going to be far more appreciated in any forum than yr banter about appropriately sorted topics...

*case in point, the poster above this one...

beforeimpact 08-16-07 11:01 AM

Plus, maybe some ******-bag on here would want to convert it to a fixie!

Following your logic, or lack-there of. Why bother splitting BF.net into sub-forums then. Why not just have one massive one we all get to pick through? I've been around here for a long time and know off topic stuff is discussed (like the "what are you listening too" thread). Most of it doesn't really apply to any other sub forum (beyond maybe general). But when you post something that is blantantly "road bike" in this forum...what is the point. So what if people don't click over there. Then they can suffer from not knowing about walmart's expensive road bike.

This does not exist. People have mistakenly thought of logical reasoning as "common sense" for a long time, but as the former is no longer prevalent in human populations, the latter has faded with it.

I agree. However it's nice to pretend people aren't as stupid as they generally seem.

crushkilldstroy 08-16-07 11:15 AM

I think Manowar is awesome.

Walmart also sells shants.
OMG so confused!

bonechilling 08-16-07 11:16 AM

You know, that's really not that great of a deal. I would expect cheaper from Wal-Mart.

bonechilling 08-16-07 11:17 AM

Also, obstacle, stop being such a tool.

the subforums, regardless of why they were initially split (this one especially, from what i've seen) have become smaller social groups more than anything else.
for instance, if this were a fixed gear only forum, it wouldn't be weird at all to post such a link.
in this instance as well, people often post things about geared bikes that may be relevant to those who are into cycling, despite the fact that they only ride fixed (or prefer fixed, etc).
like i said earlier, the majority of those who post here don't post or even read there, so it is essentially a separate world despite being a part of the same bulletinboard install on a server behind the same domain name.
if it's something you don't want to read, bumping by complaining about it isn't really going to make it go away. ignoring it and reporting it would, but then you'd be left with people who ARE interested in the topic discussing it, so you can obviously see where your logic is getting you.
in other words, i understand that you don't want to read about this link here, but others here do and will, so insults are really going to cause nothing more than the same old bs arguing that this forum is so notorius for.

"Stripes on a tiger don't wash away. Manowar's made of Steel not clay"!

Fighting The World...

Manowar! Kings of (cheese) metal!

Do Walmart sell fixed?

lvleph 08-16-07 11:25 AM

Next year. lol

bonechilling 08-16-07 11:25 AM

Wow, they have CF Schwinn Varsitys, too. My mind is so totally blown.

"By moonlight we ride, ten thousand side by side!
With swords drawn, held high! Our whips and armour shine!
Hail to thee -- our infantry -- still brave beyond the grave!
All sworn the eternal vow; the time to strike is now!

Kill Kill Oh Oh Oh Oh!
Kill Kill Oh Oh Oh!
Kill Kill Oh Oh Oh Oh!
Kill Kill Oh Oh Oh!"

-- Battle Hymn, Manowar.

:D

sp00ki 08-16-07 11:28 AM

wtf is "carbon fiber wrapped"?

iamtim 08-16-07 11:29 AM

It means they took an aluminum frame, and wrapped it with carbon fiber.

Das ist cheese.

:)

Then, why not link to the road forum thread(s) and the countless debate and replies that have gone on and on over there. Why does this need to start new here...

DDYTDY 08-16-07 11:37 AM

Victory! Victory! oh oh oh oh!
-- Battle Hymn, Manowar

Now I have to listen to Brothers of Metal on my Ipod singing out loud, while wearing bib shorts as I'm shopping at Walmart for high end bike gear including Asso butt butter.
