Bens Cycles/Milwaukee Custom Wheels

Looking to upgrade my old cxp-22 stock Pista wheels for something a little lighter, but still durable. Will be used for commuting + some longer leisure or training rides around nyc area on my Mark V. I'm looking into Formula Hubs/Mavic Open Pros or Velocity Aeroheads. I've ridden both rims on my road bike-riding aerohead cane creeks wheels now, they're both durable and light. Not a big fan of Deep Vs, seems like that's all the stock wheels that are around these days...too heavy and fashionable, so I want to go custom. How are the Milwaukee custom wheels? Customer service etc? How was the turnaround for custom? Any other shops anyone could recommend, that preferably stock Velocity or Mavic + Formula? Thx

Ben's is one of the best shops in Milwaukee. I buy all my parts there. Locally, though...

I can't comment on the wheels in question, but I can vouch for the service. It may be slightly impersonal online, but if you ever have to call the shop, I have never encountered an employee at any level who is not knowledgable. Given the time of year, their custom turnaround is probably as fast as anywhere else, and by that I mean, probably not instant. They seem to always be good at popping notes about such delays up on their site though, so be sure to inquire before ordering. Hope this helps.

you should go with their own milwaukee hubs as they have hollow axles so you can install a pitlock - you dont want your new wheels jacked in the city.

I got some wheels built up from Ben's last summer and they're very nice.
