What is this bike worth?
I know this isnt the road forum but i know you guys and i trust your opinions more.
I have a chance to buy this bike and im not sure what its actually worth. Can anyone help me out with a ballpark figure? Its in good shape. thanks http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/6...bikejpgov0.jpg |
Maybe $400?
I should elaborate: In road cycling, things that are outdated are practically worthless. This can be good for people who want a nice ride but don't care about having the newest technology. It can be hard to price some of the older stuff, since for $300-400 you can buy a barely used Trek 1000 or Specialized Allez which is only a couple years old. For people who race, that is probably the route they are going to take. As far as this particular bike is concerned, most people place a somewhat unreasonable value on older Bianchis. I mean older as in like 10, 15 years old. I saw someone trying to sell a similar bike for $800 on Cleveland's craigslist...and a guy I know who sells bikes out of his garage won't even part with his, though he doesn't ride it. Personally I think the color of that bike is awesome and I'm used to downtube friction shifters, but I still wouldn't pay a ton. |
depending on market, 300-500?
i know the LBS would sell that for at least 400. |
Thanks.
Anyone know the approximate year of it? |
i'm going to guess 93 but i know nothing about bianchis
|
Cool ok.
The guy is asking $200 for it and im thinking to get it. Not sure what ill do with it. Plum crazy purple. :) |
nice color. do you know anything about the components? that'd be the different between $200 and $600.
|
What are the components and frame material?
|
if he'll take $150 you have nothing to fear ;)
but $200 sounds good too |
is it a limited? some dude on ebay just paid 200 for a limited frame

Definitely worth $200. |
91 ish- I sold a slightly newer europa a few months back. with exage components, for 225 ish on ebay.
|
On eBay it could fetch up to $600.
P.S. the seatpost is junk. |
Bianch Strada mid-80s for a buy it now price of $249
Another Bianchi that'll get around $250-300 women's bike that might go to $400 or more Another that might go to $400 We need more information than one picture. Is there a name for the bike? Are there any tubing decals? (Columbus SL or Bianchi Special) What are the components? Is the bottom bracket Italian or English? If you were to sell it on eBay, most definitely get rid of that seatpost. I'm guessing it's a late 80's to early 90's Japanese made Bianchi. Worth ~$150-250. eBay is mad crazy over Bianchis though. Especially the Celeste ones. Especially if the ad says "Perfect for fixie" |
thanks for the links and info.
im gonna go look at it asap and see whats up. |
$200. That's a good deal. You may want to change some stuff out but that looks road worthy already. Check over the frame real carefully for cracks and evidence of damage, buckling etc.
The frame looks really nice. |
and the grip tape and tires look very clean. that's usually a good sing )not ridden, or at least maintained)
|
owner said he has almost never used it. im guessing its gonna be in very good condition.
waiting to hear back to go see it. |
slick

you can get a mid 80's neuvo racing for <$300 if you are patient. While a bit older it's a substantially nicer bike. Those look like exage brake levers and there really weren't many technological improvements in dt shifted bikes in that time.
Given the saddle, seatpost, and pedals I say $200 is acceptable if you need a road bike now but if not I wouldn't go above $150. Remember just because it wasn't ridden doesn't mean the brake pads, cables and housings don't need to be replaced. |
