ebay problem - suggestions?
i read the rules and i think this is okay to post.
i made a boo-boo. i had a couple auctions open, and i meant to buy it now on one pair of crank arms, but my brain fried and and i clicked the buy it now on another set with the wrong bcd (i was scrolled all the way down at the end of the page). so, naturally, i sent a message to the dude and explained my mistake. its been 3 days now and i havent heard back from him. suuuucks...he's a powerseller so he's got auctions goin off everyday. ive had 100% posi feedback since 1998...im totally at his mercy. maybe i can find someone else to take the auction? |
Probably would help a bunch if you posted exactly what you mistakenly bought. Post a pic also if you can. Just because he is a powerseller doesn't really mean anything...just that he sells a lot of stuff. I'm sure you are not the first person to do this. Ebay also has a mediation feature if you need to use it.

okay, i wasnt sure if i was allowed to show the auction.
this guy has a gangload of stuff that he sells... over a thousand a month... he has a 98.9% posi feedback report, but he got over 17 negs this month. ive sent him 3 messages, so far no reply. sugino crank arm set 170mm / 130bcd http://catalog.ride-this.com/images/...50m/CR8971.jpg http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=009 |
Well...those are nice, but I don't need another set of crankarms in my garage..lol. And I ride 175's anyway...how much did you get them for if you don't mind me asking? You could always sell them again on ebay for like a buck less I suppose. I don't know that anyone would "take over" the auction from you per se, but someone might pick them up from you...be careful though...your not eligible to sell in the forum as your not an upgraded member (I think I have that correct), but someone may pick them up from you. If your truly stuck in the auction, try putting them in the for trade thread for SS/FG. By the way, if this guy really sells 1,000 items (or more) a month....17 negs is only a 0.17% negative response...not too bad really, especially considering the fact that probably more than 0.17% of the millions of people who buy on ebay are unhappy people who are never satisfied with even the best customer service.

right on...the problem is i havent done any transaction yet.
i didnt send him money because i was hoping he'd say "oh dont worry about it" but i havent gotten any sort of response. the biggest bummer of it all is that my bike is apart on the floor and i cant ride it until i get some crank arms...and i cant get some crank arms until i figure out whats gonna happen with this auction...and i cant figure out whats gonna happen with this auction until he responds...and i have too much milk in my cereal. it would be nice if someone else just finished off the auction for me. oooh well |

If I had to bet, I'd say he'll eventually get back to you telling you it's ok. If not: those cranks are a good bargain, and while you might not have 130 BCD chainrings at the moment, you might need it later on. Most singlespeed/fixed gear chainrings larger than 40T are in 130 mm BCD. Especially if you want a 1/8" chainring - those come almost exclusively in 130 mm BCD. |
a very good point... maybe i should sell my chainring then =)

The thing with that is, and I hate to burst the OP's bubble, is that while it's definitely true that there are 1/8" chainrings in 130mm BCD, the track standard is still 144mm. Sugino 75s, Campagnolo Record Pistas, Dura Ace, FSA Carbon Pro, etc. are all 144mm.

At least offer to cover the guys listing fees, it'd be the decent thing to do.

HEY! I just got this response from him...what the heck does this mean??
this is what he said: Dear 5fd, Taking care of it. - ride-this huh?!?! |
It probably means he's going to void the auction or something. Don't worry about it so much.
Also curious as to why anyone would spend $58 on RDs on ebay when you can get an entire RD crankset with 48t wheel for like $70. |

These guys have a website complete with contact numbers. Check out this link.
If you contact them & tell them you issue. They'll probably just sub the correct part and call it a day. |

edit: I thought you were looking at RDs, not messengers. My bad.
