I've been riding with powergrips of awhile now, and I like them....but...I think that there advatage over toeclips/straps is that they can accommodate various sizes of shoes reasonably well without being adjusted. Plus during a skid you can twist in a bit more and get even more support. However.....

A good stiff toe clip/strap tightly fitted I think gives a little more overall support. I also usually wear slim fitting shoes when I ride that I can fit into clips/straps tightly without actually adjusting them, so that aspect is a non issue.

I'm about split on them, and I will agree that powergrips ain't pretty.

I'm about to try doubles, adn I'm pretty exited abot those.

I adjusted (tightened) my straps when I got the clips, and then again when I got some new shoes. (c-verse all stars)

but I never tighten the straps EVERYTIME I stick my foot in, not necessary.

I was thinking seriously about those powergrips, specifically for a rain bike, because they will fit with a larger waterproof winter boot.

while this has been discussed ad nauseam, tightening a regular toestrap every time is the only way to get them tight enough to be efficient. this isn't to say they're not useful if they're a bit loose, and they're certainly more convenient. the advantage of powergrips is you don't have to tighten each time but you still get the tighter strap.

i find that i'm bending all my soft shoes inward, though.

I was thinking about going with this combo. I'll probably try double straps on my Sylvan Tracks first.

Speaking of which anyone know of anybody who makes nylon double straps?
