They said it couldn't be done... Peugeot build Part 1

I'm converting and old 1975 Peugeot UO-8 to budget-fixie and the first step was to install a cartirdge Octalink BB to recycle some old parts. The problem was the drive side threads are right handed. All Octalink BB's are Right on the left and Left on the left. So I got an extra Left cup from another BB and took my BB to the lathe. I cut off all the threads to the point that the cup would slide on. Viola! it fits like it was made for it:D I also took an old seatpost(27.2) and put it on the lathe and turned it to 1 inch, fits like a glove. So far this build is going great, next I'm lacing up the original high flange Normandy hubs to some new rims. Wish me luck.

I loved my old Peugeot Road Bike. That was my first road bike, I was 14. Good times, good times.

Fantastic work on that stuff! What are you doing about the stem? Back to the lathe? Would you turn those parts for somebody who wanted to do the same thing? How much would you charge?

I love my U-08, I need to take some pictures of it once I get it put back together. I might be trading it for a moped though.

Sweet, lemme know when it's all built; we'll ride.

I'm using a stem adapter, (cause I've got one) just put it in the lathe and put some sand paper on it. Only took a minute as you only need to remove .1mm all around.

Like I said, it's a budget build so I'm using what I got to build it very cheep!

Dude, you live in Utah! You would have to ship the parts to me and there would be the chance that I would damage your components. No guarantee. I think you could find a machine shop somewhere out there where you live and put them to work.

I hope that seatpost was thick to begin with.

where's you get that stem adapter?

Yes it was very thick, and old Sugino SP-KD. It is still 3mm thick after taking it down .6mm. It will be plenty stong for my 150lb body.
