Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The skid salute?

I think I got one of these today. As I was waiting to make a left turn I look back and some guy initiates a skid down the left turn lane. He's right next to me and says, "Sup, man."

high five

bomb through traffic

buy a 40

Wow, this is one of the more entertaining bumps of super old threads that I've seen in awhile.

Amused to see that BFSSFG hasn't changed much over the years: new user suggests sweet new fixay trick, and everyone else agrees that he is super cool and that they can only hope to emulate his awesomeness.

I was calmly riding down College St. one day and somebody snuck up behind me (I had seen him at the previous light, riding an Argon 18 Electron) and every time I slowed I could hear him doing really obnoxious little skids literally like a foot behind me. I think he was just trying to get my attention but I ignored the living **** out of that guy. I was mostly angry because he was riding so dangerously close, but I didn't want to lock eyes and have to admit that such an obnoxious bonehead and I have something in common.

So no, **** the skid salute. Just wave hi if you really want to, but then, I don't see any reason to wave hi ONLY to fixed gear riders. Kind of makes you an ******* really. This thread is ridiculous.
