There's a such thing as moderation. ;)

Besides, super wide MTB bars are really uncomfortable after riding with any kind of aerodynamic bar (drops, bullhorns) for a long time.

dzinehaus 09-01-07 10:24 AM

that bike is sexy. BUILD

Rather look like a trendy ass than a ******.

BLIMP 09-01-07 12:36 PM

How do you distinguish?

kemmer 09-01-07 09:58 PM

To build or not to build is not the question. How to build is the question.

In other words you're about the lowest common denominator on the site.

agreed

on a track frame it's majorly uncomfortable riding on wide bars... think of putting a huge pyramid on a very small ball, like a baseball, and trying to balance. the mountain bike frame is going to be more stable, so wide bars aren't a terrible idea. on a responsive and quick bike though, you want a your arms closer together. it also depends on how horizontal your torso is. the more weight on your arms, the wider the worser

for that bike... get some wide (44cm+) cyclocross shallow ergo drops... get them slightly wider than the center of your shoulders. that would be sick.

You didnt just make this up did you? I always thought narrower bars were mostly about aerodynamics among racers, and hipsterism plus something to do with going between cars among street fixers.

no, i tried wide mountain bars on my kilo tt and it was really twitchy and required way more fine motor control because any weight transfer caused a huge difference in balance on the frame. the second i moved my hands in on the bar it became easier to balance.

but i know what you mean.

One reason I think wide bars are uncomfortable is the kind of steering response. I don't like it at all, I'd rather have twitchier bars.

Built it..if only i have money to build a fg mtb.
