brakes on a crosscheck?

i'm converting my crosscheck to ss/fixie (flip flop rear), and i've been wondering about frames w/canti brakes. if i take off the brakes, it will look like **** b/c of the big stops, or whatever they are called where the brake mounts. don't get the idea that i am too concerned about looks, but i think i'm gonna keep both brakes on to avoid the ugly mounts (then i could also use a freewheel). any ideas for a clean look and no brakes/front brake only?

Whatever you do, don't hack 'em off. If you're gonna run it fixed off-road, the rear brake will be very nice to have. Take it from someone who rides fixed off-road with just a front brake.

There are a lot more reasons to run a crosscheck singlespeed, even if you normally run fixed. Like if you ever want to race singlespeed cyclocross. Or go offroad where there are hills.

Leave both, dude. I'm getting in on that group buy because I want some canti bosses and cable guides, as my bike has none. Why throw away something so useful?

If you want clean lines, buy a track bike.
