I'm looking for risers that...
have enough sweep that I can sit almost upright when cruising around, but that have enough flat before the rise/sweep that I can rest my hands by the stem when wanting to get somewhere in a hurry.
any suggestions?

If you're looking for bars that have some different positions for you, maybe risers aren't the best thing. Drops or bullhorns can be positioned pretty high.

You've got it backwards. Unless you are a timetrialist you want your fast position to wide and stable while your cruising one can be less so. Thankfully bars have already beed designed to accomodate your needs they are called road drops.

Perhaps I should have been clearer in my initial post... What I want is something with some rearward sweep, like old school 3 speed bars, but that also have enough room that I can put my hands right by the stem...
(also, I'm running bullhorns now).
Good point, Dutret, I had it backwards... but road drops aren't what I'm looking for.

Well I've looked around and it looks like it's a toss up between Noah's Arc and On One Mary bars. The rise won't be much of an issue, especially if I flip my stem.

holy ****, duh. I'll go flip the ones I have on there now... great idea, quickfix. Should work fine if they don't bang my knees too much.

flipping bullhorns can really make the steering imprecise and dangerous. i'd suggest bum bars(road drops flipped and with the drops pointing straight down)

Moustache bars dude. Rise? Check. (upside down) Sweep? Oh yeah. Lower, more aero position? Check.
H-bars are rad, but $$$.
