So far its still just hopes about it happening but I will def know by the end of the week if we are on or not. * i am trying to gather as many #s as possible. $72 bucks retail for Fujitoshi doubles in Japan. I wish I could help get stuff together for y'all but good luck with the buy!

so....I was over at Kalavinka today and I bought a pair of white Toshi Doubles. It was like putting my feet into warm vegan butter. Or churning it. Or something. And not vegan either for that matter, thick cow-skin butter.

Anyway....I asked Nagasawa-san about getting a group order togther. He gave me some info, then called Fujitoshi and asked about it. I came home tonight to a nice email describing what's up. All the guys at Kalavinka are awesome. To summarize:

--they come in black, white, red, and blue
--they only make them when orders come in. it can take two weeks to six months to get your order (Kalavinka had been waiting a while for theirs)
--since they only make them in small batches, there isn't much of a bulk discount. he said they could get them for 7,900-8,100 yen (they list 8,300 yen at Kalavinka)
--Fujitoshi couldnt say when they'd be able to get an order for 40-50 straps ready at the moment, since they are backlogged. Nagasawa-san said it sometimes take as long as six months to get your order.
--he said that they are actually very few of them produced for the Japanese market, and recommended trying EAI. he said that EAI make 1000-pair orders, so they might be better to deal with in the US and more likely to deal on the price.

That's that--hope some of it was useful! The straps really are super nice.

Just taking a stab at the math, which I suck at, but here goes:
At todays exchange rate, 7900-8100 Yen works out to $69.21-$71.97 USD. If one figures shipping to be $25-30 UDS via EMS, than that first bulk shipment should only add less than $1 USD to the cost of each strap. Then, if one figures in the cost of USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation at $5.30, the total should be slightly more than $75 USD per douple Toshi strap.

My shop is finding out what he can work with Kalavinka and will get back to me later so its looking good so far.

anyone have an EAI hookup? I can ask Brian at Revolution Bicycles in philly on friday, and I think they have a number on their site. We could try going through them as suggested earlier. I'll give them a call tonight when I get a free moment.
