My fork broke!

How the hell does that happen.

I live about a mile away from work and I was coming back from lunch at home, and when I turned on to my building's street, my steering felt all loose. Got off and looked for the problem and noticed the left prong of the fork was broken clean off, about a half an inch above the wheel mounts.

Frame on this bike is pretty beat, and kinda small (old 80's fuji road bike) so its no big loss. Guess I'm in the market for a new frame...

Nice way to justify dropping some coin on a new ride...

Well done.

goldenskeletons 09-26-07 11:34 AM

damn, homie. i'm glad it didn't snap in any kinda bad traffic spot. there's nothin' wrong with being in the market for a new frame though, even if its only the fork that's busted.

good luck getting up and riding again soon!

I'm just trying to figure out:

Was it a car or a cat i saw?

bonechilling 09-26-07 12:01 PM

Every old Fuji road bike I've seen had a flat-crowned Tange fork, which should be incredibly easy to find and replace, although possibly not worth the expense.

I once cracked a fork when I ran head first into a

Golden rod adorned log

I once banged up an old pickup truck, but upon further reflectance I said to myself

"Hell, it's a Toyota still, eh? "

Nashbar had some unpainted forks for like $8 on their clearance page a week ago. I think they were threaded forks. Get one of those & a can of Krylon...

doubled 09-26-07 03:24 PM

i have nothing to say about the fork but damn. Do you really live in morristown?

Old Dirt Hill 09-26-07 03:29 PM

I saw this happen once and the guy got off the bike and said:

"Named undenominationally rebel, I rile Beryl? La, No! I tan. I'm, O Ned, nude, man!"

I'll never forget that day.

doubled 09-30-07 10:22 AM

our tuesday night ride goes along 202 sometimes and hell, 35mph in the paceline is comfy, even at rush hour.
