your ride is never safe

this guy cut 126 parking meters off the poles

discuss

deathhare 10-02-07 11:24 AM

discuss what?

Gordiep 10-02-07 11:27 AM

I hear that Luke and Dragline are both suspects...

joshuastar 10-02-07 11:29 AM

moral of the story:

don't lock your bikes to parking meters
unless you plan to ride around your town on beaters
or buck the hot trend, start carrying heaters
and if i go blind you know i'll just wear cheaters

Tyler M 10-02-07 11:30 AM

The article doesn't even mention suspicions that he cut the parking meters in an effort to steal bikes. Obviously there is potential for that. But for all we know, some guy stole a bunch of parking meters because he wanted quarters for his laundry. Or he's obsessed with the number 123.

I'm with deathhare. What's to discuss?

crushkilldstroy 10-02-07 11:30 AM

I bet he cut them down to get all of those invisible bikes we were talking about a couple of weeks ago.

Aeroplane 10-02-07 11:31 AM

Who locks to parking meters anyways?

deathhare 10-02-07 11:31 AM

He must have been one of the meatheads at the San Diego velodrome and was getting his revenge on the hipster skidderz.
eye for an eye.

I do...there is nothing else. Atleast around here.

Nobody in Cambridge. They've all been stolen.

There really isn't anything to discuss, but I thought it was impressive. Cutting a 3 inch steel tube must be difficult, and he was able to steal over a hundred without the police noticing. This implies that someone could easily steal just as many bikes if they were so inclined.

I don't know, but I think the guy cutting them to **** does.

caloso 10-02-07 11:47 AM

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

I guess it makes sense if you have a U-lock... I use a chain and you could probably easily lift it off of most single-head parking meters.

Oh yeah, well I use a mini U-lock, and it fits comfortably around my rear wheel and a parking meter.

Cool Hand Luke must be his favorite movie.

Lame. Drive-by post. At least quote the source and offer your opinion--- then we can discuss.
