Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? NS Bike Coaster Hub

Anybody with any knowledge on this thing... Looks to be a conventional hub but the name has got me confused. Could it be a modern day, quality coaster brake hub?

That's a disc brake hub, not a coaster brake. My best guess is that "coaster" is just the product name for rear hubs and "roller" for fronts.

If you are looking for a modern coaster, I think kogswell sources these velosteel hubs.

If it were a coaster brake I think it would have a brake arm.

Speaking of modern coaster brakes, did you all hear the Kun Teng of Taichung and Schwinn of Wisconsin of teamed up to develop an all-new two-speed coaster brake hub? Schwinn wanted to resurrect the kick-back hub and after KT looked at the old Bendix and Torpedo models they decided to spend the money on an all-new mechanism.

The new hub will see the light of day on some 2008 Schwinn models. And the product manager at Schwinn told me that it is detailed in the 2008 Schwinn catalog.
