Ok how do I get the GF riding?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Sad fact: we don't stop after junior high. That's just the last time you hear it on a reg basis.

No you can't and here's one (among many diverse) reason why: if you start deleting and retroactively editing OTHER poster's posts, you make yourself and (as an admin for) bikeforums.net implicitly responsible for the content created by OTHERS! Please tell me you do understand the ramifications of this.

funny, my girlfriend got ME into riding bikes. Not just bikes, but fixies. She helped me convert my ten speed and brought me to a bunch of group rides and I was hooked.

Fact: Bike forums moderators do this on a daily basis. I almost always put a little <edited by moderator> in there as a courtesy though.

Not so much bad grammar as it is the fact that it's hard to type with paws.

Seriously, if you've got someone expressing fear of the bike because of how high the seat is, get them to try out an Electra Townie. I've never met someone with that fear who really and truly wanted to ride not take a test ride of one and be totally delighted.

Certain recumbents might also be a good choice. Bike E recumbents and one's with the same basic design can be much less threatening for beginners and offer them wind resistance that will help put you guys on equal footing.
