white cork tape

a+ in my book.

gehrkead 10-14-07 12:14 AM

gets too dirty too fast. i think that is true with all colored tape with the exception of black.

ggallin 10-14-07 12:22 AM

white lightning isnt just for chains, you know?

time bandit 10-14-07 12:28 AM

its also for sliding off yer bars! cool

xg43x 10-14-07 01:21 AM

white cork tape is classy, but it looks trashy after a couple rides.

bexley 10-14-07 09:27 AM

Clear shellac on top. Anyone tried or seen that?

Nekura 10-14-07 10:16 AM

Dirty white tape = street cred.

clancy98 10-14-07 10:20 AM

i haven't cleaned mine but supposedly simple green shines em right up?

ggallin 10-14-07 10:41 AM

bar soap like dove or ivory, or even dish soap like dawn will make them look brand new again if for whatever reason you dont have any white lightning around.

bonechilling 10-14-07 10:52 AM

Fizik white tape is the best **** ever. Durable, looks great, stays clean.

str8flexed 10-14-07 11:02 AM

Does fizik white tape ever get dirty? Or do you still have to wipe it down every week w/ soap..

bonechilling 10-14-07 11:03 AM

Yeah, it gets dirty, but I wipe it down as-needed.

time bandit 10-14-07 04:20 PM

yeah, my friend has some fizik white tape, (pricey) and it always looks clean.

bonechilling 10-14-07 04:27 PM

I think Fizik tape is only like $16 or $17 at REI. Not too bad, and since it typically losts longer than standard cork, it's a relative bargain.

the fizik perf tape is durable and feels great, but it offers negligible cushion, similar to track grips. if that matters.

c0urt 10-15-07 12:48 AM

i ran white tape for about two days on my road bike. couldnt take how nasty it got. granted i am sewing up a white messenger bag as we speak, but thats not the point

dddave 10-15-07 01:27 AM

i'm going to flip and chop my crappy stock mercier drops and put some white tape on them. maybe red.

nateintokyo 10-15-07 09:19 AM

I ran white cork tape for the past couple months and it got cruddy. Maybe I need to wear gloves more often (waiting for winter...).

Perhaps a bit vain, but I didn't like the bright white drops and dirty-ass white tops and bends, so I changed it out for red perf fizik tape today. I agree that the padding is rather minimal in comparison, but we're almost in every-day glove season here :)

pino pomo 10-15-07 09:43 AM

Black and only black. That way nobody (me, most importantly) notices all the grease and snot and buggers spread out across my tape.

skinnyland 10-15-07 11:30 AM

I have white cork tape on my flip&chops. It is dirty. I don't care.

lvleph 10-15-07 11:35 AM

Fizik FTW. I have it on both of my bikes. It is worth the $16. Black is not as nice as the other colors, IMO. It just doesn't have the same feel.

goodall 10-15-07 11:41 AM

Only cool if you have a white saddle too.

MIN 10-15-07 12:45 PM

Word.

I love the aged looked of dirty white tape. I never clean them.

Yeah, I bought some black without touching it first. It's kind of gross and felty feeling. Not at all like the others.
